Siliguri Branch of EIRC

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India

(A Statutory body established under an act of Parliament)

Respected Professional Colleagues,

Wishing all a Happy CA Day!

This year CA Day coincides with Implementation of GST the revolutionary Indirect Tax Act since Independence. I feel this Act has increased the responsibility of Chartered Accountants and also professional opportunities. We over the last few months have tried our best to impart knowledge on GST among our members and are confident that our Members are well prepared for meeting society requirement once GST comes to effect on 01/07/2017.The initiatives undertaken by ICAI towards GST implementation and our support as partner-in-knowledge-dissemination in that regard is across North Bengal.

We know the New Act is a challenge to all of us , and post 01/07/2017 we shall have more queries, however the Branch intends to organise more programs on GST during July 17 to solve members queries.

We Recently Hosted the All Region Joint Conference at Chalsa Organised by EIRC, NIRC, SIRC, CIRC and WIRC. It was a great opportunity for Siliguri Branch to Host the same and with your support the conference was successful.

Students are actively engaged in various student activities mainly seminar, sports, industrial visit , Youth festival and Educational Tour. CA Day Cultural Program is possible only because of the hard work of our students, I compliment them and our Vice Chairman for his effort. Students who appeared for May 2017 exam are awaiting for their Results, I wish them all the Best. I wish them Happy CA Day. I would like to quote Swami Vivekananda for my beloved students “ You have in you a thousand times more than is in all the Books. Never Lose faith in yourself, you can do anything in this universe. Never weaken, all the power is yours.”

Today, both the Government and the public holds Chartered Accountants in high esteem. For our high ethics and integrity, today we enjoy the status of conscience-keepers. But whatever legacy we enjoy today, we must understand that the wrongdoing committed by a single member of our profession brings disrepute to our profession as a whole. I would urge all members to uphold the dignity and the image of the profession in the work which they carry out.

After I took over as Chairmanship I have received enormous support from members which has helped us to organise various programs smoothly and with success. I am Thankful to you all.
